I'm weak) Our company (also in the Grocery industry) uses the Barcode400 software from T.L. Ashford & Associates. You can find them online here: http://www.barcode400.com We use Datamax label printers and Symbol PTC-960SL scanners. If you just want to whip off the occasional barcode using your laser printer, you can use the BARCODE DDS keyword in conjunction with Host Print Transform. The downside to this is that you need to write a new printer file for each new label (which often involves programming) and Host Print Transform is rather slow If you bought an AFP interface to your HP printer, you could speed up the process, but then you have to buy the AFP licensed program from IBM, and you still have to do the printer file programming... works very well, I'm told, if you go that route. Since we have thousands of different labels, we've found it makes more sense to buy the Barcode400 software package, and printers designed specifically for labels -- it's a good product, and keeps up with our production lines, printing thousands of labels per hour. Hope that helps...
