What kind of quantity of labels? Is it for short term use such as shipping
or inventory? What kind of media are you planning on using and what kind
of quality and durability are you after? What kind of scanner will be
scanning it?
You may want to consider a dedicated label printer such as one by Intermec
or Zebra. You can use either direct-thermal label stock or a heat-transfer
ribbon if you have label stock that's plastic coated (ie UL labels).

We are just getting started with the barr coding. We will be printing
labels and paperwork. We will also be reading these labels in whse
applications. The printer will probably be HP lasers.

Are you looking for bar code printing or reading or both?
Do you already have bar code scanners? Radio frequency (RF)?
What kind of printing equipment do you have?
Printing on labels or on paperwork or both?
Any particular standards you have to meet?
tell us more...
