I'm a bit of a novice here, but here goes. There are 2 programs (and some variants, I think), QP2TERM and QP2SHELL. The former is an "interactive" session in PASE, the latter is a "batch" way of running things in PASE. Your best bet for more info is InfoCenter, under Programming->Shells, IIRC. PASE is mostly equivalent to some level of AIX, I forget which version. Certainly 4.x, if not some form of 5.x

You could also search for "porting" in iSeries search from the support site, which should get you to how to come to iSeries from Unix. Good stuff. This may be where you'd get: <http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/enable/site/porting/iseries/>

I've used QP2TERM to start some kind of shell (ksh?) in PASE. There are others, and the usual UNIX user config files (.profile, etc.) in the IFS are used to determine your environment variables, startup apps, etc.

Again, someone else may know the interactive tax implications.

Vern,

Can you elaborate on the QP2SHELL?

Thanks,
