When you say "second backup" is this additional entries in the control group? There is a "*LOAD" parameter that can be specified as a backup-item (like *EXIT), that tells it to go to a new tape. Is this what you're looking for? We don't duplex our backups, so I'm not that familure with all the BRMS options, if that's what your trying to describe, or if you just have multiple entries in your control-group that you want split across multiple tapes. If this is the case, use *LOAD in the backup-item field. riginal Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dave Snyder Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 11:07 AM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: BRMS question How do I prevent a second backup from going to the same tape that backup #1 wrote to if the tape is not unloaded from backup #1? I thought it should be the" Append to Media" parameter in the backup policy but it does not appear to be. In other words, I do not want a backup to write to an "active" tape, only to expired tapes.
