Re: hosting website on iSeries?

Two issues come to mind, Charly.

First, DSL. DSL usually does not have a service commitment. They need to
understand that if the connection goes down, unless there is some form of
service commitment on that DSL, then they may be down for days. Also, as
long as they understand that the site will not be up when their iSeries
isn't... that's something that the ISP provides. The ISP is also probably
providing redundancy of some sort on the web site. They would loose that.

Second, memory. Even static page service will have a memory demand that
their machine is probably not experiencing now. If they run CGI, net.data or
java apps, servlets, jsps.... 2G would be my base recommendation. I have a
customer that runs all of it on an 820. Until they bumped the memory to 2G,
there was just too much paging from the web site with even one user.
