On my iSeries, when I do a cd /something/something it automatically switches me to name format 1, as long as the cd is the first thing that I do. Therefore, I've had good luck with using something like this: ftp://user:passwd@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/home/klemscot/ What actually happens (behind the scenes) is that the web browser connects to the FTP server, and then as soon as it logs in, it sends a "cd /home/klemscot/" to the FTP server, which causes it to switch to name format 1. I haven't done that with IE, though, since I don't use it. (And I'm not at work where I can try it) but I would sure think that it would do the same thing that Netscape does.. Hope that helps...
