This is only a test, please ignore...This is only a test. >>> joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 09/24/03 04:25PM >>> > From: Jon Paris > > Don't know what's not to "get" - even IBM admit this simple truth if you > get them off the record. I will do the math - but you'll only argue > with it. Jon, I'm not going to argue with the math. This is exactly what I thought. IBM is pushing the more expensive solution. IBM isn't "losing" anything. They just bait-and-switch people into a more expensive solution for the same problem. So of course they won't tell anyone. It's kind of like saying a car dealer loses money if he doesn't sell the high school kid a brand new H2, when all the kid needs is a used Nova. What's REALLY stupid about this is that IBM is trying to move from a hard-goods to a service posture. This shows an extreme lack of business savvy, since the client may get the box then outsource the services, and then IBM gets diddly squat. In fact, I'd say a good market to be in right now is providing H-1B RS/6000 consulting at $75/hour (and paying the poor kid from Bangalore $15/hour).
