In theory, you have a share created on the iSeries which points to a
particular directory in the IFS. Then from your PC you map a drive to
this directory, just like you would map a drive to W2K server.

The Catch-22 is setting up that share. The official method is to use
iSeries Navigator. :-)
I can see where that might be a problem for you.

Once you get past that Catch-22 this is how you do it with V5R2:

To work around this, try the V5R2 information center. Search for
netserver api. I got:

But how do I get to the 170 (V5R1) when I do not currently have Client
access or OPS Navigator installed on my PC?

Scott, CA once was a separate Red & Black colored CD BUT now, I
think you can pull CA down from the AS400 to the PC @ either V5R1 or
V5R2 as well with Ops Nav

II recently purchased a 170 with V5R1 and all of the Websphere
developemnt tools as well as Client Access. I did not receive any cd's
with this machine that will allow me to install Client Access or the
Websphere tools onto my PC. How do I acces the new 170 from my PC in
order to install from the IFS?
