RE: Partitioning of xServer card

Doug I would NOT  place it in the primary partition(P0). IF P0  goes  down 
or for some reason an update to IXS  causes the need for an IPL so  goes 
the entire system not  just the partition.  The Primary  should only be a 
managing partition  if at all possible. With todays  technology, partial 
processor LPARs it  is far less  costly then in the past and getting better 
all the time.  Net is:

Today any secondary  partition will do best, at least until some changes 
come to the IBM iSeries LPAR  infrastructure implementation. Will  it  work 
in the primary? YES  very likely

I  thought I saw someone  say on this thread, that their LPAR system was 
"shipped" with the IXS in the Primary partition.   LPARed  systems are NOT 
shipped with the f/c cards in  place according to  what you  want or 
specify in the LVT.
