Steve, It sounds like the system once had a tape drive attached to it, but I think by default it should default to the CD drive. Another possibility may be the CD doesnt have a BOF/EOF marker on it. I had something like this happen in the past. While reading the CDs, it failed. I called IBM and they said that the CD was bad because it couldnt find the markers on it.
