Steve, I would suspect that there is something wrong with the CD in the slot. You shouldn't be able to configure your optical drive as an "alternate installation device" because your optical drive should already be an "installation device". This should work right out of the box. Option 5 will display all available configured devices which are eligible. If you have no tape drives, I would expect the result you received. Or maybe something is connected improperly. When you display your hardware, what controller handles the optical drive? Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse
