FWIW: We have a pair of APC 2200 units, but don't have them hooked up to tell the systems when they're sick. We wore out the batteries on both units, a few months apart, and went to a 3rd-party vendor for replacement packs. Dunno about Best, but with APC 2200s, changing out the packs is quite easy. I keep meaning to go through the old packs with a car headlight, and see if I can make one good backup set out of them. -- JHHL
