Like Joe, I'd be inclined to use a service job, if I actually needed to run the debugger on the batch job. Usually, though, I just throw in diagnostic code, so that I can monitor it either in a spool file (printf's from a C program) or a message queue (DSPLYs from an RPG program). This is particularly applicable to C programs that do a lot of character string manipulation, since getting useful information out of the ILE debugger on a C program is about like getting blood out of a turnip. -- JHHL
