If I understand you correctly, you're looking for a way to know what
programs use a given file, right? Actually, the command you want IS
dsppgmref, you're just looking at it wrong.

In batch (and preferably overnight - it's not quick) issue the following:

DSPPGMREF PGM(*ALL/*ALL)         
          OUTPUT(*OUTFILE)       
          OBJTYPE(*ALL)          
          OUTFILE(SOMELIB/PGMREF)

This will result in a file that contains the files each program uses. Now
simply run a sql or query over the file to find all the programs that use a
file.

PS. This is _NOT_ a perfect solution. There are third party products that do
what you want much better. The DSPPGMREF solution won't find cases where an
RPG program uses a file because a CL issues an ovrdbf before calling the rpg
program, or similar "non-obvious" uses of a file. The third party tools
will.

hi all,
i want to knoe any similar command like dspfileref...my requirment 
is to find out object cross reference like for example
object name (DBFILE01) is being cross refernced in the various 
programs namely PROGRAM01 and PROGRAM02 and PROGRAM03......
i ve list of files in a lib and i want to find out their cross 
references in various programs (libraries where they exists and 
atributes etc also)...is there any command similar to  
DSPPGMREF...This command is nt giving required details  in proper 
order...any pointers in this regard would really help me...please
