Actually buck, there is an "edlin".  It is called EDTF.  It works both on 
stream files on the IFS and on non externally described data files.  I've 
used it on source physical files.  Joe has noticed some problems using it 
on data pf's, though.

Check out Bob Cozzi's CodeStudio.  I believe it will operate 'standalone'
for a fraction of the price of the full IBM WDSCi. http://www.rpgiv.com

I think it's fairly rare for IBM to sell a Real True server-only
configuration such as yours.  So there isn't a EDLIN that comes with OS400
for such purposes.  They may not realise there's a need unless you tell
them.  Submit a Design Change Request (link in the FAQ at
http://faq.midrange.com)
