Actually buck, there is an "edlin". It is called EDTF. It works both on stream files on the IFS and on non externally described data files. I've used it on source physical files. Joe has noticed some problems using it on data pf's, though. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Check out Bob Cozzi's CodeStudio. I believe it will operate 'standalone' for a fraction of the price of the full IBM WDSCi. http://www.rpgiv.com (general downloads) or http://www.rpgiv.com/codestudio/index.html > Have I missed something here? I think it's fairly rare for IBM to sell a Real True server-only configuration such as yours. So there isn't a EDLIN that comes with OS400 for such purposes. They may not realise there's a need unless you tell them.
