omygosh, Gary, is your resume up to date? Seriously, are you really working in an IT environment that deals with medical records? If so, it is unfathomable that they (who are they?) are just now telling you that you need to comply. If my understanding of the vast resources required to implement HIPAA requirements is correct, you are on a sinking ship. You didn't *really* have anything better to do the rest of this year, like eating and sleeping, did you? Is your software homegrown? If not, who is your software vendor (and have you contacted them)? Sorry for sounding so gloom and doom, but yours is not a pretty situation.
