This is the problem I've always had with >searching< (NOTE: I said SEARCHING) on InfoCenter. To my knowledge, it is impossible to search for something in a given manual. If there is a way, it is a well-kept secret. You want to find the syntax on DDS EDTWRD? Your results will include hits from across the library. Yes, the advanced search allows you to narrow down the areas, but where do I select to search only the DDS Reference? It would also be nice if the advanced search would remember the categories and subcategories selected, instead of forcing me to select these each and every time I go there. It seems like this would be the perfect job for a cookie. My normal route to finding something I know is in a given manual is to go to iSeriesNetwork's DocFinder. (Many thanks to Chuck Lundgren and iSeriesNetwork!!!) But, I find it rather pathetic that I have to use this route. For DDS Reference, the RPG manuals, and CL Reference, I have downloaded the PDFs and, because we have the full Adobe product here, we are able to build indexes on the contents. But even then, it is painstaking and time-consuming to search a manual because Acrobat doesn't give you a list of hits within a document to choose from, unlike InfoCenter or even that golden oldie, Library Reader (Softcopy). Hopefully, Vern has found the keys to the kingdom. I await his reply. - Dan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com
