Definetly go with the shared drive then. If the application doesn't want
to know if a shared was created beforehand, or if all PC's have the same
drive letter mapped there you can always do the unc method of
\\systemname\folder\file
Just like if I was in your company and emailed you a link with
file:\\myas400\mysharename\myfile
The generally accepted way, (for the non gui-phobic), is to use iSeries
Navigator to create the share on their iSeries. The individual clients do
not need iSeries Navigator, Rumba, or any other such animal.

Rob and everyone else...
The question that was posed to me was in reference transferring binary
files, in this particular case PDF files. Not sure whether a shared drive
is feasible or not. The client knows little about the IFS, but has Rumba,
and I just wondered if Rumba had an easy way of entering in a file name
like
'/temp/files/myreport.pdf' and transferring it from the IFS to a local
drive.
