This system is not like Windows. A clean install is not that much better than an upgrade. Clean install vs restore/upgrade Pro's - No old ptf save files to delete. - No misc objects here and there taking up space. Con's - User profiles - Configurations - Plethora of stuff in various ifs directories, etc - What data, (if any), actual goes through some sort of an internal upgrade during an OS upgrade? No Raid. What a bummer. Tried to IPL and I hear clicking noises and squealing, (and it's stuck on SRC C600450A) so I'm pretty sure that one of the disks (2X8.5gb) has failed. I made a complete system backup (opt 21) 3 days ago, so pratically nothing is lost. Just looked. Now I have a system attention light, and SRC A6005090 (System Startup failed in unattended IPL mode). Following the diagnostic procedure, I am now IPL'ing in manual mode. Got the Disk Configuration Error Report, which indicates that unit 2 has failed. Now I'm thinking that this is the perfect opportunity to do a clean install of V5R2. I know which libraries I need to restore from the backups, so I think this is a no-brainer. Anybody disagree? Anybody got any working 6713-050's that they want to sell cheap?
