What release are you running, how fast is your disk IOA, how busy are your disks and how many (betcha they're 100% busy during quiecenesence). On a reasonably fast system, if you are not bound by disk, it should take one tenth of a second per internal object to achieve quiecensce. In V5R1 this theoretically drops by 91%. Downtime is limited, but I can get a couple of hours. This means I need to do a save while active, getting a sync point while the apps are quiesced and then letting the users back in while the save to tape completes. Trying this with the parameter value SAVACT(*SYNCLIB) took a prohibitively long time. Since the applications are quiesced will SAVACT(*SYSDEFN) set the same sync point set for all libraries and get them all saved as of the same point in time? _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
