My recollection is that the two drives have similar speeds and feeds but
that the 6717 is an SPD drive and the 6817 is PCI.  Why your 170 would
report a 6717 is a mystery, you should be looking for the PCI.  The above
recollection is confirmed in the V4R4 System Handbook.
