Yep, this is a "fun one" and I did indeed delete the APPN device... Driving
me nuts. :-) There must be something wrong in the "diskettes" config so I
will try again today...

We've had problems with our Perle controllers in similiar circumstances, 
but I don't recall an occasion where the controller has actually come to 
ACTIVE without the devices.

The only thing I can think of that it sounds like you haven't done is to 
delete the APPN device and let it auto-configure.
