Hi,

Thanks for the complement, but we do not market a product that completes
with either Ops Console or LAN Console. Our product, APRM, is an Automatic
Partition Resource Manager, which dynamically balances partition workloads
in a partitioned system. For more information on that, see our web site.

Judging by Joe's reply, perhaps you meant Op's Console, versus iSeries
Navigator, (formerly known as Operations Navigator).

We have one system that uses op's console. It is direct attached. The
rest of our systems and lpar's use twinax console.

We probably underuse op's console. All we have it do is connect and
create a 5250 session. We don't have it do the pretty picture that is
supposed to look like the front panel of the iSeries. Since that machine
is local and IPL's quick we never saw a benefit to setting that part up.
We had a consultant set it up, (while he was setting up LPAR).

Al Barsa markets a product that is supposed to be a competitor for op's
console. I don't know enough about it to make a comment.

Pro's and con's?

Cost of twinax. We already required a PC in the machine room anyway for
some other functions. (Great sound for CD's on those downtime weekends
also. Bummer it didn't have a DVD drive.) We already had several twinax
cards tied up for other partitions.

Someone said that putting your primary partition under Op's Console is
that cat's meow but I still haven't figured out why.

cons of twinax, ops nav or Lan ?

Thanks !
