Ah, ha,

Another secret command! V4R1 I think.

The plot thickens in V5R2 with the new system value, QSPLFACN, for Spooled
File Action.

The default is *KEEP, which says to keep the job structure once the job
ends, but the alternative option is *DETACH, which says to detach the job
structure from the spooled files once the job ends and destroy it. This
effectively allows you to have more jobs on the system, but prohibits you
from doing a WRKJOB/DSPJOB to a job that has completed!

You might also want to check out the new V5R1 system value QMAXJOB, which
specifies the maximum number of jobs on the system, which is shipped at the
(not so) obvious value of 163,520. The lower limit is 32,000.
(Previously, the maximum number of jobs on a system was 32767, a vaguely
familiar number.) The maximum number of jobs on a system is 485,000. The
maximum number of spooled files on a system is 2,800,000, but because of a
bug in V5R2 (unsure of fix status) is 1,300,000.

Given the new system value, QMAXSPLF, added in V5R1, which allows the
maximum number of spooled files per job to be increased from the old limit
of 9999 to the new upper limit of 999,999, the 2.8 M limit would seem to be
too low.

The good news is that the system keeps scaling and growing!

When did the DSPJOBTBL command become available as I've never heard of it
before? I've spent years trying to explain to various people the effect of
the number of jobs in the WCBT has on performance. Also what is the
difference between the job table numbers? The help text is far from
informative.

<<Try doing DSPJOBTBL. Look at the In-use column. Now press F11. This
