Is PPP possible with NO Ops Nav

Got a customer with a small 170 with 5 RS232 lines that are 
not being used. 

They want various customers to be able to dial in with 
whatever PC they have laying around(sound familar).

This customer does NOT have a pc attached to the 170 and 
shows no interest in doing so.

Can you even config a PPP connection with NO Ops Nav ???

Is SLIP an option ????(what emulation ??)

I suspect Client Access is also out of the question.

Async commuications anyone ???(with a cheap emulator)
