First, if the new drives are hot pluggable and you can add them whilst the system is up, physically install the drives. Hey if you can afford the down time, end the system to restricted and perform a complete backup. Second, in SST build your raid set. Do so BEFORE you add them to the ASP. Third, add the drive to the ASP, don't bother to balance them at this time. Now to remove the old drives you have to be in DST and Dedicated mode. :-( Using DST end the raiding of the drive to be removed them remove all the drives at once. The system will move all the data off them and balance to the remaining drives. This will take a while. -----Original Message----- From: Jeffry Kennedy [mailto:jkennedy@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 1:27 PM To: AS/400 Questions Subject: Migrating Data to new DASD I will be installing 7 new 17 GIG disk drives in my 820 and I want to migrate all the data off our 4 Gig (10) Drives to the new drives. How do you tell the OS/400 to do this ? _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
