This worked fine where START is a 6 digit numeric year. For testing I
subtracted date2 (today's date) and got accurate answers.

Duration is years/months/days (Use F16 to put in the edit word)

DATE1       SUBSTR(DIGITS(START),1 ,2)||'/'||
            SUBSTR(DIGITS(START),3 ,2)||'/'||
            SUBSTR(DIGITS(START),5 ,2)

DATE2       Current(DATE)

DURATION    Date2 - Date1

Got the info in YYMMDD no century code. Yes, years are 00 for 2000, 02
for 2002 etc. I also see some of the days did not calc correctly. What
do you suggest?

Gail,

Do any of those dates have a digit other than 1 in the first position,
and, have a year less than 40?

If so, you may have a problem with Richard's solution.
