The bug with Query is that, (watch this):
Field       Expression
DATE1       date('1939-02-28')
Gives you:
DATE1 
++++++++
But
DATE1       date('1940-02-28')
Gives you:
DATE1 
02/28/40

So, it looks like that window is enforced by query and taking the time to 
use a proper date year is a waste of time.

So, Booth, you're right.  If she actually needs dates outside of the 
'window' Query leaves her screwed.  At that point, I'd look and see if 
STRQMQRY has that issue, or use RPGLE.

Where is the problem?  Why does she care about the century?  Is she 
working
outside the 1940-2039 window?
 
Just create 2 yy/mm/dd date fields using substring and substract them. 
 
That works just fine.
