I know I'm coming in late on this discussion, but we use the Kemetech product
to convert
PF's directly to XLS (and back!) and have been quite happy with it.

One feature we use is the ability to put data on different tabs based on a
field in the file. For example,
we will build a sales report for a manager of all of their rep's sales sorted
by the sales rep. We tell
it to break the data in different tabs based on the field, and the manager gets
a native Excel file with
the data put in different tabs for each rep. They love it.

We also use it for remote data entry. We build a file with data that needs to
be corrected or entered,
email it to someone, they enter the data in the specified column, and I convert
that spreadsheet
back to a PF directly.

Love it.
