Just curious, what did you use?

I think that the way IBM has gone away from easy-to-get-at manuals, with search facilities over just those manuals, is unfortunate. The SoftLibrary (BookManager or whatever) had superb search capabilities, and you could put them on the 400 and use InfoSeeker right from a command line. Now, with what looks like part of an attempt to force us off of direct interfaces with the 400, they've removed STRINFSKR almost completely.

There was, for awhile, a set of the manuals in PDF format with the PDF search facility, which is almost as useful as the SoftLibrary thing.

It seems we're being told to depend on search engines. In fact, as you point out, they cannot do all the prioritizing, filtering, that a little careful thought and familiarity with where to look, can do. If we want a command, we go to the CL command manual (or maybe a few other product-specific ones).

Something in Web presentation and access just does not work, at least for me.

That is exactly mpy point Vern. Its not going to get solved with a search

Progress <> better.
