400, so I think we'll go that route.

The only way I know of to accomplish this is to use a language like Visual
Basic to retrieve the data from your physical file and place it into an
Excel spreadsheet. I wrote some RPG and CL programs that would build the
physical file and then execute the Visual Basic program residing on a
Windows server using RUNRMTCMD.
I wrote the Visual Basic stuff in VB 4, so it's not exactly state of the
art
(no ADO or sockets), but it does work. You could probably pick up VB 5 or
6
fairly cheaply. If you go that route, let me know and I'll be happy to
provide the VB code I created.

Does anyone know of any packages out there that will allow you to create
XLS files from PF's? CSV won't work here, the user absolutely, positively
will not accept anything but an honest-to-god XLS file. And we want to
generate and e-mail the XLS file with no user intervention, so the package
would need a command interface.
