I feel your pain on why they updated the group's after the cutoff date,
yet still won't let you order them.

As far as their cutoff date, I can respect that. After all, didn't they
give over a years notice?

It's amazing how upset some of the local gas stations were last year when
the law came into effect that they had to have special gas tanks. They
tried to get an extension. The government showed some spine and said "No
way, we gave you a ten year notice." Now granted, some fools waited until
the last minute to order the new tanks and the installers were busier than
a one armed paper hanger.

I hope so, because IBM just sent me a note saying they won't even send out
PTFs for V4R5 anymore. "Two of your PTF orders were not processed because
programming services only accepts requests for R510 and R520." The two
not
processed were my requests for CUM and GRP for R450. What's really
bizarre
is that the Hipers I requested were dated 01/14/2003 and the HTTP group
PTFs
were dated 01/16/2003. They're barely a week old, but you can't order
them
anymore. What's up with THAT?

Actually, the whole concept is confusing. Is the idea that if you missed
the cutoff a few weeks ago, you're S-O-L? Pretty Draconian policy, but
not
surprising given the kinds of decisions they're making these days. But
even
that doesn't make sense, because if the cutoff was 12/31/2002, then how
could you get the PTFs that were released last week?

I'm fuzzy on the details, but I think time travel is involved.

Joe
