Interesting, Raul. I just tried this also in CL, a variable name can be used in CALL, as follows

*************************
pgm

dcl &pgm *char 10

chgvar &pgm 'DFTTEST'
call &pgm
call "DFTTEST"

endpgm
*************************

Notice the full quotes around the program name. But single quotes, as in

call 'DFTTEST'

do not work.

Hmm

One of the features of OS/400 is the ability to call a program, the name coming from a database. This allows, for example, to call a program that displays amount in dolars (and cents) if the acount is foreign, or in guaranies for a local account.

If the nema of the object that will be needed dependns on data, or in the result of a calculation, it will be hard to automate the checking. Of course, when you call a program whose name is the result of a calculation, you must CHKOBJ before calling.
