1. Is this the way to go ?
2. Are there other ways to do this ?
Check out ASNA Visual RPG (AVR) www.asna.com. I'm using it. It is, by far, the easiest way I've ever seen to pass data between a WinTel platform and AS400, and it handles any ODBC enabled database equally well either through ADO or, in the case of SQL Server, a transparent record level interface. I use the ADO interface. It's quite easy, and makes it a snap to use ANY database that has a Windows ODBC driver. I was working on a project today that connects a DBase database with the AS400. BTW, AS400 access is NOT via ODBC.
