There is an article, "Heterogeneous data access for iSeries applications", at <http://www-919.ibm.com/developer/db2/documents/data_acc/index.html>. There's also a link to it at <http://www.iseries.ibm.com/db2/>, under "Accessing non-iSeries Data from iSeries apps". The db2 site here for iSeries is great. Just found it a couple weeks ago.
