When will we learn? It's like our mothers used to ask us: if everyone jumped off a bridge, would you? Evidently in IT the answer is "Yes".
Yeah..it is...technically right or technically wrong, that's the answer. I admire the technical purity of someone still using BetaMax or OS/2, but I do this stuff for a living. I will work on and support iSeries boxes till I retire (about another 20 years), but I doubt if I will see many more (additional) iSeries installations. IBM hasn't done a good job of competitive installs or of positioning the iSeries for different environments rather than back room processing. If I had my druthers, I would have all ecommerce sites using OS/400...but I also understand I can get the 90%+ of the same value for 25% of the cost.
