Your point is valid and this discussion comes up every time benchmarks are
thrown out.  Effectively they mean very little to over 90% of the iSeries
community but then the same point is valid with other platforms.

The point of the response was to support John's response to someone who
mentioned that the iSeries does not hold records for webserving........the
response is that it can...........

We can argue ad infinitum over benchmarks.  Personally I would like to seem
more numbers down in the trenches (270, 820) but the fact is that this
stuff costs money and takes time.  However, I'd argue that those benchmarks
are not essentially crap - we are all relatively intelligence people, read
them for what they are.....it's part of the game.

Those benchmarks are essentially crap and just show what it can handle (if
you get a 16 way iSeries).  It shows nothing about efficiency.

For example, are those numbers REALLY all that impressive if another box
could do 3,000 simult connections, but with half the harware (not saying
one
can)?
