The case for security should never be a given, no matter what you system
setup.

Given that no security is ever absolute, all security options need to be
compared to each other for what is worthwhile. Do you spend $1K (or cost
the company $1K in lost productivity) to protect a system worth $1M?
Probably. Do you spend $1M (or cost the company $1M in lost productivity)
to protect a system worth $1K? Probably not.

If the expense of having security is not justified by the value of what you
are securing, then you shouldn't have that security in the first place.
Similarly, the expense/savings in increasing/decreasing security is vital
in justify any such decisions.
