Lan Console is also in V5R1, but I've chosen not to go that route, from
concerns of the network being down. If a router or switch is turned off
(easily happens in a small office), the 400 may be unreachable. And the
devices used by TCP/IP get confused - need to be varied off/on again. That
can only be done with the console.

Does LAN console require TCP/IP to be started on the iSeries?

Thanks

Vern

Hi,

The "real" answer is to go to V5R2 (excellent release), and get "LAN
Console".

no. But I found a way to do it - use a switchbox
