Scott You're not missing anything. IFS would always beat a source member, unless it was fixed format. I think the good news is, in V5R2, there is evern BETTER support in the IFS. Of course, disk is cheap, and the compiler didn't allow you to specify an IFS path back then, so I went for convienience and used the traditional PF approach. I just wonder why he said that disk space was inefficient... I'm wondering if there's something that I'm not taking into account?
