OK - Jim; this is a HUGE question! 1) If the router has something called a DMZ, you can do this - the DMZ will be the AS/400's addresses. Since your system is secured (who hacks an AS/400?!?) you place your AS/400 in this spot, then you can hit it from the outside world. 2) You also need a "route" to your "Router" so you MUST declare a "next hop" (I can help you with this...) 3) Once established, people will be able to hit ports on your AS/400 Does this make sense? I don't read the MID-L often enough - so I can private reply if you'd like. www.as400nut.com uses a linksys DSL router... so I kinda know EXACTLY what to do, however V3R2 is a little ancient @ this point... This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I posted a message a couple of months ago regarding my attempt to connect my 9402-200 running V3R2 to my home network through my Linksys DSL router/hub (BEFSR41). If you've done this successfully and wouldn't mind a question or two, I'd appreciate it if you'd contact me offline. I'm not trying to use the 400 as a web server or anything fancy - I just want to be able to run emulation and file transfer from my 2 pc's to the 400. I've got a copy of IBM's TCP/IP Fastpath Setup manual and I'm hung on the step where I have to give the AS/400 and address. What do I use? I'm not familiar with TCP addressing schemes. TIA.
