That may well be true on the AS/400. The program in question, however, runs on another platform and talks to the AS/400 via a console connection. While V5R2 probably acts just like V5R1 in its processing of the DSPMSG command, I can't be 100% sure of that, and would greatly prefer to avoid the question entirely.
