Bonnie, If you have an active software subscription for that machine, then all upgrades to installed iSeries software should be available at no cost. Some exceptions might include application packages like Domino or WebSphere (I'm a little hazy here, although these packages do not necessarily need to be upgraded with the OS). If you do not have a current software subscription, or if it is close to expiration, you should have a charge there. If it has lapsed, then there may be a 'Currency Access Fee' to get back into the program in addition to the subscription fee itself. What does your consultant say? There may be some resistance if you wish to process an upgrade through a business partner who did not sell you the subscription. If someone else got the money and they need to provide the service, there might be a fee, but $20k is very high for processing an upgrade order.
