Eric You are absolutely correct. But if people get a message that it is cancelled then they simply take the submit to batch option - this forces the query to be run in batch wouldn't you agree ? Perhaps I should have said "you can force queries to be run in batch" regards Evan Harris
I think the posted statement was in error. IIRC, when QRYTIMLMT (Query Time Limit) is specified, if the estimator returns a value (in seconds) that exceeds the defined time limit, then the query is not started.
