I would also be careful of the following in the Software Mall, which may or may not include the server side, mainly the rpg compiler, etc. 479 WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries - Media Pack 4.0 the list on the web has changed in the last few months. I still think Anne is the person to get something done for us, if we present it in an organized way, ie this is what a "home" developer or 1 person developer needs. I went thru a lot of this 8 months ago, and did join Partnerworld, and leased a 270 from ibm on their special developer lease (after being told the special offer for a "personal" system had been cancelled). Getting OS & Dev Tools in the lease was cheap. I pay $240 month for a 270 (instead of several thousand on e-bay and than fight with ibm for software). Have not yet ordered any additional software. To me it's the just the cost of doing business to keep up (and also develop products). I also see IBM Partnerworld is really doing alot, and including the iSeries in much of it's promotion & materials (a lot more than it used to). jim franz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy Nolen-Parkhouse" <aparkhouse@attbi.com> To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 11:36 AM Subject: RE: v5r1 license key > Zak, > > I would not expect to see base OS/400 on a list of 'orderable' software. > Currently the base operating system is bundled with the purchase of an > AS/400 (iSeries) and is not separately licensed.
