Years ago (likely System/38 days) I had a client who ran a great many never ending job. These jobs would sit on a DATAQ wait. They were always active but would "sleep" most of the time. To end them gracefully I coded some routines that would watch for the subsystem or job ending. Then I would send a unique string to the DATAQ that the waiting program would see and do its own normal end. This was much better than just pulling the plug as these were watching network transactions. --- Douglas Hart - Sr. Consultant Certified IBM iSeries System Administrator mailto:dhart@twcny.rr.com > > > Fred, > > Just curious - why do you want to shut it off ? > > Chuck > > From: Fred Mitchell on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 5:57 AM > To: midrange-l@midrange.com > Subject: System shut down program? > > <I know all about the system startup program but I am trying to > work out how > to shut the system down automatically by reversing the commands in the > startup program and then doing a PWRDWNSYS.> > > <--- Stuff Deleted ---> > > >
