Al do you think the size that is shown on the WRKSPLF screen (hit a couple
of F-11's) is incorrect??

There is no easy way to determine the size of a spooled file that I know
of.  One trick that I once used was to do a DSPSPLF on the spooled file,
and then do a system request option 3, do get DSPJOB.  From there note
what
spooled file member I have locked, and then get that member size.
