Chuck  , Andy   echoes my thoughts on the  tape scenario.

JMHO here
Noticed  your  disks are  pretty  full to ( your first post) -   and should
be  cleaned up  or consider an upgrade ( greensteak program would not  be
a  bad  deal to hit  2002 level of system technology). This too would help
your performance/ throughput  as well.
