Not only in the US but everywhere in the world.

*PCASCII (Encoding Scheme x'4100') will give you the correct (Windows --
or more correctly ISO 8-bit) ASCII code page for your current EBCDIC code
page.

*STDASCII (Encoding Scheme x'2100') will give you the correct IBM PC ASCII
(OS/2, DOS) code page for your current EBCDIC code page.

Macs generally require different encoding -- but still ISO 8-bit.
