This is easy enough to do from an interactive session in a CL program -- here's a sample: PGM DCL &PCCMD *CHAR 50 STRPCO PCTA(*NO) MONMSG MSGID(IWS4010) CHGVAR VAR(&PCCMD) VALUE('d:\tools\bat\download.bat') STRPCCMD PCCMD(&PCCMD) MONMSG MSGID(CPF0000) ENDPGM The only issues are that a) the receiving PC needs to have PCO.EXE (comes with CA), and AFAIK the program has to run in a CA session, so a user has to be signed on (of course, there are ways to work around that, if you want). > > >I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess I could use FTP to send a >file >and invoke the OLE processes or a VBA program, which I assume stands for >Visual Basic for Access (might have to learn that language :)). IIRC VBA stands for Visual Basic for Applications -- it's the version of VB that runs inside (is the macro language for) MS Office products (and now some others. It's actually not too hard to use it to manipulate Excel files. If you need the entire process to run in batch mode, and you have plain VB available, you might consider creating a .CSV file as suggested and then using a VB program to open it in Excel and save it off as an .XLS. You can probably also use VB to fire off the e-mail, but I don't know too much about that. . . .
